About Indimage

Indimage was founded with the aim of advancing and protecting the right to education in Israel in general, and the Arab minority's right to equal education in particular. The right to education includes the right to education that allows for equal opportunity in employment; an education free of discrimination, and suitable for the language, culture, and memory of various national and ethnic groups.

Goals

  • Improving the achievements of Arab pupils in Israel and promoting equal opportunities in employment in Israel.
  • Changing the curricula of Arab shcools in Israel so that they are suitable for the culture and legacy of the Arab pupils.
  • Changing the educational policy in Israel in order to achieve autonomy and more budgets for the Arab education in Israel.

In order to achieve these goals, Indimage works in the following ways:

  • Developing multicultural curricula and learning materials that promote equal opportunity in employment for Arab and mixed Arab and Jewish schools and kindergartens.
  • Training educational staff in teaching methods that promote thinking and comprehension.

History

Indimage was established in 2004 with the aim of creating of new curricula for Israel's mixed cities. The organization grew out of a project in 2002, when Dr. Yoad Eliaz and Tuffaha Saba were hired by the city of Tel Aviv-Jaffa in order to create a new Multicultural Campus for two schools in Jaffa, an Arab and a Jewish school. The project was so successful that it was expanded in 2003, when Indimage was hired by the city of Tel Aviv Jaffa in order to develop a multicultural educational program for the whole of Jaffa. Today, with partial support from the Ministry of Education, Indimage works with 5 schools and 12 kindergartens throughout israel. Indimage began its activities with a team of 4 volunteers, and today includes 12 staff members. In September 2006, the New Israel Fund awarded Indimage seed money to support its projects. In 2007, the Abraham Fund Initiatives awarded Indimage a grant in order to support its activities.
