Indimage curricula in Achmadia school in Haifa
The Achmadia School in Haifa is a public Arab elementary school that serves families living in the Arab neighborhood Kababir in Haifa. In September 2006, Indimage began working with the school's staff in order to develop a new curriculum revolving around distinguished figures. Indimage conducted several workshops in which the teachers explored issues pertaining to education and Arab identity. As a result of these explorations, the school's teachers chose to explore figures that represent significant values in terms of the consruction of the students' identities. Amongst the figures chosen were, for example, the Palestinian cartoonist Nagi AlAli and the Palestinian author Fedwa Tokan. The students themselves experienced the selection of figures by researching a chosen figure. It is important to note that this is the first time that teachers and students at Achmadia have been involved in a democratic educational process that includes discussion, agreement and choice
